Prins grabs 2nd position in Rally of Monte Carlo for alternative fuels

Last weekend the 5th edition of the Rally of Monte Carlo for alternative fuels took place in France and Monaco. This rally has been organized since five years now by the Automobile Club of Monaco. Prins participated the first time in this rally, with its latest development in the field of LPG systems, the Direct LiquiMax system. In the LPG classification the Prins team, consisting of Jeroen Visscher and John Wouters in a BMW X6, finished in 2nd place.

The rally started from 3 different cities to finally all finish together in Valence. From there all participants took the same route to Monaco. The total route was divided in several special stages, of which fuel consumption, handling and speed where the most important. At the end in the harbor of Monaco was a special handling circuit, where Prins stole the show.

When you look at the official classification, you can see that Prins with the BMW is the only system which really runs mono-fuel. So during the whole rally no petrol is used, only LPG. This is because of the Direct LiquiMax system, which injects the LPG directly, under high pressure into the engine. Therefore it is no longer necessary to start on petrol as with the current available LPG systems.

For the debutant team it was a pity that they did not made it to the first place, because there were some uncertainties about the penalties because of exceeding the speeding limitations outside the special stages. At all Prins is very satisfied with this result and it is also a good test for the system which is ready to be launched commercially.
